Greetings all! I'm Justin Howard, returning to the role of Thomas in Mare Cognitum. I'm excited as all hell for this reprise of the show and everything we're doing so far has been rock-solid good.
I just came back from another evening's rehearsal. We've been going three hours or more almost every night of the week for a while. It's been extremely interesting to have a chance to reprise these roles and take things in new directions - to explore the depths of our characters and this play a little further. Coming back to the same work after several months off gives us a really interesting starting point: we all know this world and these characters intimately already, and we all have new ideas as well.
Not only do we have the whole cast returning, but the playwright, the delightful David McGee, has made some really excellent tweaks to the script. My interview scene in particular works for me even better than before. I don't want to say too much, but I really think David's outdone himself... with Mare in particular, but in this scene especially.
I'm psyched as hell and cannot wait to bring this wonderful piece of theatre to the world!
